Background

Having practiced in various clinical settings, Tim has experience in a wide range of specialties, including internal medicine, fertility, pain management, cancer and immune support, and pediatrics. He received his M.A. in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Apprenticeship Training

Since 2005, Tim has had the privilege of learning the classical style of Chinese Medicine through a traditional apprenticeship with master practitioner, Dr. Robert Johns, O.M.D., L.Ac., author of The Art of Acupuncture TechniquesDr. Johns himself apprenticed with Dr. Andrew E. Tseng, a former District Physician of Shanghai during the 1950’s and early 1960’s, and Dr. Fung Fung, who was in practice for over 60 years.

It was through apprenticeship settings that the “secrets” of Chinese Medicine were transferred from one generation to the next. While school provides the foundation of knowledge for practitioners, understanding the subtleties and nuances of Chinese Medicine and being able to apply them clinically does not come without guided clinical experience.

Much of modern-day acupuncture follows textbook, formulaic approaches which results in symptomatic relief. Tim’s unique training gives him a depth of understanding as well as the skill and ability to not only find the root cause of disease, but to treat it as well.

Philosophy

Having existed for thousands of years, Chinese Medicine has much wisdom to offer.  Through education, encouragement, and finally treatment, everyone can achieve a healthier state and more importantly, empower themselves with knowledge which they can use to sustain a balanced state of health.
